We are currently seeking a part-time candidate in our Blacksburg location for a Survey Technician. They will perform tasks related to boundaries, construction, and mapping requirements of survey projects, and assist with uploading and downloading data and maintaining related records in the office. Willing to work with academic schedules for students that are interested.

Essential Functions

1. Complete working drawings, design sketches, presentation drawings, diagrams, schedules and other computer generated or drafted documents from prepared drawings (sketches, markups, redlines, etc.) as required on a project for both presentation and construction purposes.
2. Process field data; prepare drawing from data.
3. Maintain a thorough knowledge of architectural, surveying and engineering symbols and graphic standards.
4. Organize layout and coordinate drafted documents.
5. Perform other duties as prescribed by the project manager or director.

4. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other computer-aided design software.

Physical Demands

This role may occasionally involve fieldwork, and may be subject to lifting equipment, standing, bending, stooping, or climbing over rough terrain, in addition to functioning within a standard office environment.

Required Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Entry level to intermediate knowledge of GPS and data collection is a plus, but not a requirement. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
